Strong Ties to Its History
Northville was originally settled in 1825, although it wasn’t until 1855 that it was incorporated as a village. Although the community was originally part of Plymouth Township, it ended up splitting off in 1898 and later becoming its own city in 1955.
Over the decades, the community continued to grow, especially after Henry Ford bought a factory in the community and moved machinery to the factory in 1919. The plant provided valves for Ford, Mercury and Lincoln vehicles during that era before closing and being sold in 1981. Today, Northville is still a popular place to live and boasts a thriving economy.
Since Northville is ideally located between two major cities and the Detroit Metropolitan Airport, companies from across the nation and around the world choose this area as the location for their offices. Notable employers in Northville include Aisin Technical Center of America, Jack Doheny Supply, Kroger, and Northville Public Schools.
